A stunning vintage 1950's crisp taffeta party dress, with a wonderful woven check mixing black and a rich claret shade. The skirts are very full, photographed with a small crinoline, not included, but could look even fuller with a voluminous crinoline underneath. Shirt dress styling with a sharp pointed collar, button through bodice and voluminous sleeves. Each cuff has three tiny black glass buttons, and a single glass button adorns the back neck. Would make a fabulous dress for the upcoming winter party season.

A wonderful vintage 1950's ballgown, by Scottish label 'Watt & Grant of Aberdeen'. The tomato red sheer nylon has a sprigged white floral pattern scattered across it, in a slightly raised flocked print. The inner bodice is a red strapless boned satin bustier, creating a two tone/semi sheer effect as the floral nylon is layered over it. There is an incredible volume of fabric to the skirts, which have a red satiny lining and finally a stiffened calico underskirt for extra volume. The folded collar leads into two sheer printed panels that trail down the dress back.

An outstanding vintage 1950's ballgown, labelled 'A Peter Mann Model'. The strapless gown combines crisp jet black taffeta with contrasting peach taffeta. The huge full skirts are given added volume by a very full stiffened calico integral underskirt. The peach taffeta bodice is intricately pleated with a twisting design. Quite simply a perfect 1950's ballgown!

An outstanding vintage 1950's gown complete with a matching bolero jacket and it's original belt. Labelled 'La Reine by Retta Day'. The fabric is a satin jacquard, with a delicate floral motif woven through it, in a soft shade of lemon yellow. The bodice has a pleated shelf panel to the bust for added detail when worn without the bolero jacket. The very full skirts have an integral stiffened calico underskirt for added volume. Would make a wonderful spring/summer wedding dress!

A striking vintage 1950's hot pink satin cocktail dress, in a lovely quality, heavy satin. The wide collar perches on your shoulders, and is highlighted with a large flat bow, and a matching fabric flower. The double layered skirt has a pleated peplum over a more fitted straight skirt, the peplum layer is lined with stiffened interfacing, to create a structured shape. Neat bow at the base of the back zip. Most likely custom made for the original owner as no labels.

A pretty vintage 1950's sugar pink organza prom dress. The strapless dress has a decorative pleated organza panel running around the bodice, and a delicate tied bow at the back waist. There is a tiny name tape style label at the inside waist reading 'Yvonne la Belle', could have been added by the original owner, or could be the dress designer's label. The semi sheer organza skirt is lined with pink acetate. Would make a wonderful summer wedding dress, or perfect for proms and balls.

A stunning 1950's strapless cocktail dress, labelled 'Chas WD Davies, Tailor & Furrier to Royalty', and extremely well made. The lovely quality soft lilac satin fabric is covered in dark lilac and forest green floral wool embroidery. The skirt is fully lined with stiffened net to create a sculptural silhouette. The curvaceous strapless bodice has a diagonal pleat detail, and is gently padded to hold it's shape. A diagonal panel bisects the skirt, with soft gathers graduating from it to create volume.

A stunning 1950's gown from the 'Heiress' label, in a subtle shade of blue grey floral lace. The lace is backed by a softly contrasting pale pink lining, for a wonderful combination of colours. The intricately pleated bodice has a panel at the top, backed with light lilac lining, for a subtle highlight. Black seed beads edge the neckline, and trailing lines of beads curve from the back neck to the front underarm. The full skirts are given extra volume by an integral stiffened calico underskirt.

A stunning vintage 1950's evening gown, labelled 'fashioned by Marie Howitt'. The fun jacquard pattern mixes two shades of teal with metallic gold, in a animal inspired design. The bodice is boned, with a sweet bow at the side waist. The full skirts have decorative pleats, and volume is added by a standard teal lining, plus a thick layer of stiffened interfacing. Appears to have been barely worn.

A wonderful vintage 1950's wedding dress, labelled 'designed by Catherine Martineau', we've been unable to discover any information about the label, but the dress is very well made, and lovely quality. A little too narrow for our broad shouldered mannequin, we've shown the back view on the hanger instead. The palest cream/off white satin has a jacquard weave with feather motifs. The simple boat neck and angled cuffs are perfectly Fifties, with a sweet bow highlighting the back waistband. The sculptural skirt is lined with net to create structure, and two fabric 'roses' gather in the skirt at the centre front. A perfect vintage wedding dress for summer weddings!

A stunning vintage 1950's strapless prom dress, mixing floral lace and ruffled net. The lime green lace and net is lined with a soft yellow shade, creating a tonal citrusy colour. The boned 'crumb catcher' style bodice has a pleated net panel, contrasting with the floral lace that makes up the remainder of the bodice. The back of the full skirts is totally covered with rows of ruffled net, the front has 4 rows of net ruffles, which give way to two layers of plain lime green net. The dress comes with a matching green lace bolero jacket. (photographed with a small crinoline underneath, not included.)

The print has a dark cream base covered with bold poppy type flowers, in shades of red, plum and kingfisher blue, with subtle grey foliage mixed in. An outstanding vintage Frank Usher ballgown, very much 1950's in styling but dating from the late 60's/early 70's. The strapless bodice is constructed from pleated tulle/net with a layered tulle panel which is edged with a border of silver bugle beaded flowers, with white embroidered leaves. The skirts are voluminous, creating a wonderful silhouette, the top two layers of fine tulle net are lined with a stiffened net underskirt, edged with satin ribbon, and finally a cream satiny lining. Would make a breathtaking wedding dress, or a ballgown suitable for black tie events or proms.

A simple but chic vintage 1960's shift dress from Frank Usher. Very hard to capture in our photos, as the dress is very understated, but the shift is in a mid weight wool jersey and fully lined, so it skims rather than clings, for a flattering fit. The neckline has a seamed panel, trimmed with a fab oversize twisted satin thread button. Perfect for Mad Men inspired style!

A super chic vintage 1960's shift dress, in the softest shade of apricot satin. Had to be clipped to fit our small mannequin, so would hang much better on the right size body. Very Jackie O styling, with diagonal under bust seams, highlighted with a neat double layered bow. Probably custom made by a dressmaker for the original owner.

VINTAGE 1960's BLUE & GOLD RICCI MICHAELS EVENING DRESS

A striking vintage 1960's evening gown from quality label Ricci Michaels of Mayfair, who specialised in good quality cocktail and evening gowns. The unusual fabric is a heavyweight nylon jacquard, with a satiny sheen to the surface, and blurred gold rose motifs on a deepest cornflower blue base. There are three rolled fabric roses attached below one strap, and another three create a dramatic gather below one hip. The bodice is lightly boned, and the dress is lined throughout in cream calico for structure. The straps have been shortened at some point, there is an inch or so of extra length hidden from view if you wish to re-lengthen them.

An elegant vintage 1960's watercolour floral chiffon gown, in shades of orange. Not a Pierre Balmain couture gown, but a dress made up by a 60's seamstress from a Pierre Balmain S/S 1965 pattern, which came with the 'Patron' label ready to attach to the completed garment. However, a great dress if you want the designer styling, without the huge price tag! Softly ruched bodice, gorgeous trailing back panel and two dinky bows to the side of the panel.

A wonderful late 1930's vintage dress, in black crepe with an abstract rasied pattern to the surface. Three small black faceted glass buttons adorn the front bodice. There is a peplum below the waist, and typically late 30's puffed sleeves. The unusual cut out detail to the back bodice, adds a glamourous touch. Dress fastens with a concealed row of presstuds, hidden under the back peplum.

VINTAGE 1960's PINK SILK HEAVILY BEADED HALTERNECK GOWN

A stunning vintage 1960's gown, in a soft shade of shell pink silk, lined throughout in luxe pink satin. The beautifully made gown is unlabelled but seems to be a typically heavily beaded Hong Kong made dress, probably custom made for the original owner. The bodice is completely encrusted with tiny pearl beads and translucent sequins, on a net lace base with pink leaf motifs. The halterneck neckline creates a sexy cut out back, and the semi fitted skirt has soft pleats over each hip. The front split is also edged with lace and beading. Would make a wonderful alternative wedding dress.

An incredible vintage 1980's Frank Usher beaded cocktail gown, with substantial shoulder pads. Literally dripping with beading, bold silver sequins and bugle beads are encrusted across the shoulders and cuffs, and in a zig zag band across the front and back bodice. The dress is in black silk chiffon, with a sheer panel across the top of the bodice. The remainder of the dress is sprinkled throughout with sparkling black bugle beads. An exceptional dress for the party season, and in a really wearable size!
